I will most likely not catch the OSCAR broadcast, but for shits (and because I’ve done it every year since high school) I’m gonna post some predictions on categories that I may or may not know something about…
UPDATE: 8/14 - for a nasty 57%… well, to be fair, I lost out on a majority of the technical awards (Muzak, Editing, Cinematography) and there was that David over Goliath Best Picture upset which I did not have the balls to call. That being said, the final score was David 6, Goliath 3… though in Box Office receipts, merchandise and DVD sales are more than enough to keep Goliath on top for years to come. This was a small victory.
For those of you left still following this blog: I will post a full update after the Canadian hockey intensity subsides and all expats are fully satisfied.
I am going to throw out all the things I don’t need anymore (and make space for something else).
One too many bad dreams following me.
When Pavement – the quintessential indie-rock rock band of the ’90′s, changed everything (OK, maybe some things), laughably sardonic, loud, shambling beauties unapologetically slaying/condemning/praising the ripped back-sides of coastal America from L.A-to-N.Y.C. and back – announced they would be reuniting for a string of – what seemed to be – mostly European festival dates, I almost broke my knuckles searching the web for a date I could attend. Now, it seems, I can put my trip to Glasgow May 5th at the Barrowlands and my £23.50 away + train fare: Pavement is coming to Toronto. And I will be home in time for the show.
If they’re doing two dates, I’m doing two dates. I’m telling everyone right now that if they want to do this, we should do this. Either way, I’m going – with or without you. Check out the link to get amped and hit me up if you’re interested in doing this. I’m thinking of a few people right now via telepathy…
